How to Become a Professional Pilot

October 24, 2020 – by Cesar A. Salazar, Certified Flight Instructor

On Saturday, October 24, 2020, Cesar A. Salazar, a recent Chapter 190 member, gave a Zoom presentation to Chapter 195 on pilot training and the steps necessary to make a career as a professional pilot. To get to an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) Certificate and an interview with a regional airline requires a multitude of steps and certifications. He stepped us through this process with clarity.

Cesar has an Aviation Management degree from Dowling College, worked for DM AIRPORTS, LTD., Operators of Morristown Airport as an airport operations coordinator and was the former school director of American Flyers Flight School at Morristown Airport. He is a Certified Flight Instructor and is currently working on his multi-engine rating at Caldwell Airport.

The Civil Air Patrol and the Lone Eagle Composite Squadron

January 25, 2020 – by 1st Lt Jens Peter Hinge, CAP, Aerospace Education Officer

Our speaker was 1st Lt Jens Peter Hinge, CAP, Aerospace Education Officer, on the Civil Air Patrol and the Lone Eagle Composite Squadron. He joined CAP about 14 years ago with the Hampton Roads Composite Squadron, Virginia, to make use of his recently obtained pilot’s license. However, rather than flying he was in charge of the Aerospace Education program. Then his work assignments to Asia and Canada interrupted and impacted his CAP activity until he recently retired to Madison and joined the Squadron. Other members of the Squadron may be attending as well.
